MBA Scholarship: Essex Business School (EBS) Scholarship

Essex Business School (EBS) at University of Essex is going to offer scholarships worth £5,000 to students who seek to join our MBA course in October 2013. These scholarship awards will be provided on the basis of merit. All academic applications will be considered automatically. The scholarship should be considered available only as a discount on the tuition fee that must be paid on registration at the University.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The award is restricted. Only candidates who come from the UK, EU and overseas and who are entirely self-funded can apply. Students who are sponsored fully or partly will not be admitted.
  • All applicants for MBA course who hold the equivalent of a UK first class honors Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7.0 for IELTS score will receive a scholarship automatically.
  • All applicants for MBA course with the following qualifications are also considered for a scholarship award by the MBA Director and Deputy Director provided that numbers permit:
    • the equivalent of a UK 2.1 Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6.5 for IELTS score;
    • or 10-year work experience (including 5-year related managerial experience) and a minimum of 6.5 for IELTS score.

Please note that for native English speakers the IELTS minimum component scores must be 6 or higher.

  • One candidate may apply only for one scholarship award. Normally the award cannot be held along with other scholarships of University of Essex.
  • In case an awarded candidate requests entry deferral, his or her award will be reconsidered according to the university terms and conditions, in the new proposed year of scholarship entry.
  • The scholarship award is available to full-time, part-time and modular students on a pro rata basis.

How You Apply

  • University of Essex will use official certificates and transcripts that an applicant should submit as a part of the original application to be admitted admission into the course chosen and as evidence to prove achieved grades. No alternative evidence will be considered.
  • All applicants who have received and accepted an offer of a place firmly by July 31st will be considered for the scholarships provided that they meet the academic conditions of entry. Besides, if an application is submitted after the mentioned date, and by a candidate who does not meet the eligibility criteria for an automatic scholarship award, it may still be considered depending on availability of funds.
  • Applicants may also be offered a scholarship award during the admission process and before the deadline of July 31st, for firm acceptance. Please pay attention that applicants who are offered the scholarship can and must confirm their acceptance by paying a 1/3 tuition fee deposit:
  1. by May 31st, 2013;
  2. or within 30 days of receiving their formal scholarship offer if the date of the official University offer letter is after May 1st.

University of Essex has a right to withdraw the scholarship offer if an awardee does not keep to this deadline.

  • In case an applicant who has not yet met the academic conditions of the scholarship offer receives it, he or she can secure the awarded scholarship by paying a 1/3 tuition fee deposit.
  • However, if an applicant somehow fails to meet the conditions of the scholarship offer and his or her place remains non-confirmed, the tuition fee deposit paid will be refunded and the award will be revoked.

  • 80/85/90%+ (Tier1/ Tier 2/ Tier 3 institution), 3-year work experience
  • no degree if exceptional (10 years plus, high quality) work experience

Thailand

  • 3.25+GPA, 3-year work experience
  • no degree if exceptional (10 years plus, high quality) work experience

India

  • NOOSR Section 1 institutions 60%, NOOSR Section 2 institutions 65%+, 3-year work experience
  • no degree if exceptional (10 years plus, high quality) work experience

Malaysia

  • 1st or 3.25 GPA, 3-year work experience
  • no degree if exceptional (10 years plus, high quality) work experience

Nigeria

  • 1st class degree or high 2:1 (3.8/5 or 3.25/4+GPA equivalent), 3-year work experience
  • no degree if exceptional (10 years plus, high quality) work experience

Other Countries

  • equivalent to a 1st class degree as specified in the PG Admissions Guide + 3-year work experience
  • no degree if exceptional (10 years plus, high quality) work experience
