College of Engineering Undergraduate Scholarships 2014/2015

Every year the Michigan State University’s College of Engineering welcomes more than 300 dedicated undergraduate students to obtain engineering scholarships. The scholarship amounts range and selection processes for incoming and returning students differ, so when applying you should carefully check the conditions. Returning students can be considered for all scholarships which they prove eligible for by completing 1 scholarship application per year. Allocations of funds for the upcoming academic year are made by the College Undergraduate Awards and Financial Aid Committee at the end of the spring semester.

Eligibility Guidelines

Below you can check the feature and eligibility criteria of the scholarships provided by MSU College of Engineering.

  • The primary criterion for the award is academic excellence. Some awards can also consider financial need. In addition, the award can be based on applicant’s accomplishments in extracurricular activities, work experience, community service, membership in professional and honor societies, and the like. The evidence of the accomplishments must be attached in the format of resume.
  • The minimum GPA accepted is 3.0. It should be based on MSU credits and required including the fall semester.
  • Newcomers must have completed at least 12 credits at the University at the end of the fall semester.
  • If you apply for the financial-need-based MSU engineering scholarship, you must fill the FAFSA form (please follow the link and check more details about Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Info for Incoming Students

If you are an incoming first-year or transfer student, there is no special application process or form for you. The scholarship eligibility will be determined basing on the information in your application. Normally the grants are awarded during the first weeks of April.

Info for Returning Students

If you are a returning student or a current first-year student and wish to apply for a general or discipline-based scholarship at the MSU College of Engineering, you must complete 1 online application form. The application forms are available from December to the end of February on this webpage.
